Current Black Belts
At SUNRISE TAEKWONDO, once you achieve your Black Belt, that is just the beginning of another journey! Join with other Black Belt students to train, learn, and hone your martial arts skills.
The Black Belt ranks in Taekwondo consist of ten ranks. Each rank is called a dan or "degree" (as in "third dan" or "third-degree black belt"). Numbering begins at 1st dan (the lowest black-belt rank) and counts upward for higher ranks.
Promotion testing happens twice a year, where students will demonstrate their proficiency in various aspects before Master Lee and/or other local Taekwondo Masters. At SUNRISE TAEKWONDO, many students who are Black Belts take additional leadership classes and lead classes of lower-level students. To achieve the title of “Master,” a student must be a 4th dan or higher.
SUNRISE TAEKWONDO has a Demo Team which competes at Regional Tournaments and does exhibitions at schools and community events. Any student at SUNRISE TAEKWONDO can audition for Demo Team. Practice sessions will vary depending on the season and what competitions and exhibitions are coming up. Inquire at the studio for more information.
This class is for all students above yellow belt level. Students will be engaged in contact sparring during this class, which means that they will actually be kicking and punching each other. Sparring gear is required to be worn when participating in sparring. Inquire with one of the Masters or Instructors for more information on what you will need to do sparring.
